Later when the polio had subsided, her arms were paralyzed. She wondered how she would hold her new baby, and take care of her family. A priesthood blessing was administered. During the blessing she felt someone touch her arm. She regained the use of one of her arms, after a lot of therapy. Later a healthy baby girl was born to her and her family. A little baby named Rebecca, my mother.
The wonderful lady in this story is my grandmother, who went on to live a great life dedicated to her family. I will always be grateful for her faith, her prayers, her example, and her devotion to her family.
She is a great, great lady. I'm lucky to be one of her grandchildren and part of her posterity.
She has since passed on, and all of her family and extended family miss her. It is her b-day today.
(This picture is from my Aunt Janis, one of her other daughters)
My aunt posted about this story on her blog.
It is my grandmother's own words.

I love this story! A perfect birthday tribute! Our Mom always said like her Mom said to her to judge her by how her grandchildren turn out. I would say she would get a pretty high judgement! She has a wonderful posterity--you included!
ReplyDeleteThis story always gets me emotional. I miss grandma so much!!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great Ensign story...
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting! I love remembering this story! I miss Grandma....
ReplyDeleteI always like to hear that story. I'm sure it's extra special to you since it's your mom.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about Grandma the other day when I was carrying a kid or two and still trying to do something with my arms. I was remembering that she had to do all that with only the use of one arm. She was certainly amazing.
What a wonderful story. She is beautiful!
